An astonishing fact

The Alzheimer's Society has called on George Osborne to use the Comprehensive Spending Review to fund greater access to care for tens of thousands of people with dementia.

This is long overdue.

But what struck me most was this astonishing fact:

'a quarter of people in hospital have dementia'

Is it any wonder that so many hospitals are struggling to cope, not only with the 25% of patients who have dementia but also with the rest?

  1. It seemed a lot to me until I thought about how many of my service users that I visit in the community have dementia and it is probably more than 25%

  2. Thanks Ian. I don't know who your service users are. Would they be demographically similar to the whole hospital population?
